THE IDES OF OCTOBER

Hi folks,

We're enjoying a well-earned break before the most exciting prospect of HUGTOBER comes to fruition. Thanks for all your poster ideas. Winners will be revealed very soon. We're all looking forward to getting out again and we may well even have some new songs for you. EXCITING, HEY?

I wanted to take a moment to talk about German perverts Rammstein. They TOTALLY stole our idea of making a box set of dildos to release with their new album. I don't want to post a picture of the dildos for those of you who read this blog at work, but if you want to see them, they're easily found via Google. Other search engines are available.

Anwyay, this is what the bandmembers look like from the neck up:

I'm not sure what we're going to do next. Could we make candle representations of our faces and give them away with the next album? Do you want a lock of our hair or something?

Oh, Sky Larkin are currently out touring the UK right now. Make the right decision and go see them. Their Glasgow show with Copy Haho was one of the best gigs I've seen this year. And I've seen TONS of shows, yeah? TONS. Like, absolutely TONS. No I haven't.

Copy Haho and Findo Gask are also going out on the road. You know what you need to do.

Finally, the great Canadian band Dog Day have a new 12" coming out soon and this track 'Synastry' is available as a free download from their website. You'll find a link to BUY the thing from there too... And I reccommend that you do just that. What a band. Enjoy and we'll see you all in a few weeks.

IM ALSO EXCITED ABOUT MUSIC

I've been buying some music recently. In fact, it's all i've done this week.
My favourite albums for right now, which will no doubt carry on into next week and soundtrack my trip as we head out to Texas through the skies:

FS Blumm - Zweite Meer - sort of lovely Sea & Cake type guitar loveliness. Great!
F'd Up - The Chemistry Of Common Life - arrived late to this party. This is incredibly rocking!
Sky Larkin - The Golden Spike - just dead good indie rock. Sounds like Buffalo Tom to me haha!
Sholi - Sholi - This one is astonishing, i can't get my head around it!
Hermit Thrushes - Benaki - Kinda weird. And therefore good!
Little Wings - Light Green Leaves - Lo-fi folk guitar pump. Amazing!
Sinebag - Près De La Lisière - Very minimal bird noise and guitar plops! Nice!
Land of Talk - Some Are Lakes - More great female-fronted indie rock!
Danielson - Fetch The Compass Kids - Eccentric indie pop yaaaas!
Dutch Uncles - Dutch Uncles - Guitar pop wizardry of the highest order!
Copy Haho - Bred For Skills & Magic - Ditto, but noisier!
Favours For Sailors - Furious Sons - Ditto, but scruffier!

Seriously really chuffed that so much lovely music exists for my giant ears to eat up this week. And especially so many great UK releases too! (Well, we could do with loads more great records coming out of Scotland, or at least ones i know about, but that's a different story.) I'm on holiday and i've done nothing but listen to music, eat Asda Orange Cables and do email interviews or pieces for magazines. Exactly. It's magic! So yeah, anyone found out about any nice little amazing bands recently that they would like to share? Post a comment if there's something i should check out. I might actually go to a gig soon too! Australian band Crayon Fields are playing in Glasgow soon. I love them! They sound like The Zombies and are dead good.

Check out the new blog idea we started as well: http://awesome-pals.blogspot.com
It's a great idea. Hopefully it will grow with goodness and all you guys, as well as all the fans of the other bands collaborating, will have a great central location to find loads of informative and funny stuff.

CROWD PARTICIPATION

I love the end of the year. It's a time for perusing various magical musical world wide websites and fantastic forums, reading every Jim, Roger and Barbara's favourite albums of the past 12 months, catching up with what I missed. Oh, and there's a Christmas somewhere too apparently now???//
Anyway, in that spirit, here's a couple of puddles of what I really liked this year. In no discernible order, of course.

Venetian Snares - 'Detrimentalist'
Fucked Up - The Chemistry Of Common Life
Stereolab - Chemical Chords
Desalvo - Mood Poisoner
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
sBach - sBach
Make Believe - Going To The Bone Church
Vivian Girls - Vivian Girls

AND NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE WALL OF CUDDLES:
POST IN THE DAMN COMMENTS YOUR GOOD RECORDS OF THE YEAR 2008! PLEASE!!!! SHOW US YOUR TASTES!!!

Leave Me To Die In The Comfort Of My Own Home

Hi nobody!!!

It might seem like it's been a quiet couple of months for Dananananaykroyd, but, in reality, our collective heads have been bursting with stuff (egg) and all manner of puff (gust) going on behind the scenes that it's been a bit of a crazy ride trying to get our brains to compute properly. Sort of like playing Paperboy on the Atari ST upside down through your fat auntie's spectacles. Or something.

We've got all sorts of crazy news to bring and we're hitting the road for eight more gigs (and counting...) that will take us up to the very early summer. But, first and foremost, our EP is finally coming out really, really soon, we can almost smell its turgid musk wafting into our brains like smell bees. Is everyone going to buy it?? Is everyone going to help us out by buying our puny record so that we can forge on and try and deliver something even more muscular next time?? Don't believe us? Just try it mister! I DARE YOU.

In anticipation of this fine little record, we're doing a promo 'British Knights' music video. It's all set to be hilarious, rocko, yet fantastically watchable. I'm dead pumped for this, you should be too.

Also, we've been writing tons of great new songs and getting so excited about them that we can't wait to play them to yooz. Seriously, amongst our best tunes yet. We're furiously trying to find enough time between the six of us to practice them. It hasn't happened yet, but everything in good time. We're planning on being around a very long time, so it's important we take our time, you know? Album will be coming this year whether you like it or not, mind...

BIFF! Come see us on tour with the highly amazing Johnny Foreigner next month (dates on the Myspace) and get really music!! GET REALLY MUSIC!!!

In conclusion then, go put on 'Everybody's Down' by No Age (one of the best bands on the planet right now) and fight your ceiling from your bed mattress and feel how excited we are about rocking out some more with you guys real soon. YEAH!!!

smell bees...
